Steep House Nursing Home resides in a beautiful, quiet location, close to the town centre of Petersfield, and is home to 56 residents. What we strive to provide at our care home in Petersfield is an excellent standard of care, giving our residents moments of joy throughout their daily routines. Our Steep House location proudly won a Gold award in Petersfield in Bloom from 2019 to 2024.
No matter your condition or health requirements, we tailor your care to your needs, ensuring we support you in every way we can. We provide specialist care services for all avenues of care, including dementia care, respite care, residential care, and nursing care. Our activity and social programmes are created to reflect the passions and interests of our residents. With a variety of pursuits readily on offer each week including physical activities, cognitive stimulation, creative pursuits, social events, and on occasion trips and excursions – designed to enrich life and make each day meaningful.
We believe that food is one of life’s greatest pleasures – mealtimes matter to our residents and to us. Steep House Nursing Home has an in-house catering team dedicated to meeting each and every resident’s dietary requirements. Menus are prepared in consultation with our residents and cooked from scratch every day using only the best quality and seasonal ingredients. There are two options at least, every mealtime and alternatives will always be available to suit requests.

Meet the Manager
Lijo Renji is our Home Manager at Steep House Nursing Home, here’s a little bit more about herself and the home in her own words:
“I began my career as a nurse before moving into management, combining practical experience in health and social care with a strategic approach to leadership. At Steep House, my focus is on delivering high-quality, personalised care, working closely with residents, their families, and friends to build a supportive community. The dedication and compassion of our team makes me incredibly proud to be the Manager here.
I would describe myself as honest, cheerful, and genuinely caring. My goal is to ensure residents feel valued, happy, and fulfilled in their daily lives. Taking time to listen to their needs and making them smile is, to me, the most rewarding part of this role. I firmly believe every resident should have the chance to live their life according to their own wishes, and I am committed to supporting them in this journey. Leading our team is a privilege and a responsibility I take to heart. Together, we create a warm, welcoming environment that feels like home, where every resident receives the respect, attention, and individualised care they truly deserve.”

I joined the team for its friendly, caring atmosphere. As a Qualified Nurse, I lead with professionalism to ensure residents receive the highest standard of care. The best part of my role is keeping residents happy, safe, and comfortable, always going the extra mile to support them.

I began my career in care by supporting people in their own homes, discovering a passion for engaging with the elderly. After joining Steep House as a carer, I now focus on enriching residents’ daily lives, providing companionship, support, and meaningful activities whenever they need it.
Sarinya Lush
Head Chef
I find great joy in ensuring residents enjoy meals tailored to their preferences while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Passionate about food, I love baking and creating delicious dishes. I’m always excited to contribute to memorable dining experiences at Steep House!

Getting Social
Spring has sprung and what a lovely weekend it's been. We celebrated Saint David's Day, learning lots of facts about Wales looking at pictures and videos of the landscape, castles and waterfalls. We tried pronouncing some Welsh places names - definitely need more vowels!
Alan reminisced a couple of weeks ago about sweets he remembered from childhood. He was thrilled when he was given a bar of pink and white nougat and it was exactly how he remembered.
The highlight of the weekend was a visit from 'Socks' the cat who belongs to Paula one of our house keepers. Socks loved saying hello to the residents, getting lots of strokes and being told how handsome he is. He did a tour of the lounge, a ride in the lift and visited some rooms, thank you Socks and Paula ❤️

Exercises are so important for our residents and they love our pom pom sessions.
Singing along to the Hokey Cokey and She'll be coming round the mountain, it's a fun and easy way to get everyone moving.
Exercise for our residents does not only improve bone health, balance, flexibility, cardiovascular health and strength but also lifts our mood, creates social connections and benefits brain health.

Watch what you are upto with that pom-pom, young Jean 😆
During our Namaste session Mary decided she'd like to try drumming, we decided to see if we could imitate a heartbeat ❤️ We also stroked the plushies making them change colour and chatting about how it felt.
In our memory box we have some 1965 coins, Nora remembers putting a silver sixpence in the Christmas pudding mix for good luck.
Maryam liked the postcard from London and laughed at our impressions of Big Ben "DONG DONG" we talked about red buses and going to see the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace.
Trissie and Elizabeth looked at the ration books and talked about going to the shops but only being allowed a small amount of things not like going shopping now.

The drums I brought for resedents for alan and others for namaste they like them . I got old coins they lovre memories of those done lots of those so nice to hear few more x
I saw the old coins my husband bought as a surprise present for my birthday one year that took me back
The lovely young students from Bedales Pre Prep came to visit us again this week.
They serenaded us with music played first on a recorder then a clarinet, a piano and a violin.
They chatted to our residents, gave them cards and showed them some of their games.
We finished off the afternoon visit decorating biscuits together...and enjoyed eating them😋
We look forward to their next visit after half term.
