On 5th December, Acacia Lodge Nursing Home residents had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate the festive season in style alongside the town council and Mayor Kellie Hinton at Henley Town Hall. The event was a joyous occasion filled with laughter, music, and the true spirit of Christmas.
The festivities began with a delightful lunch buffet, complemented by plenty of wine and a beautifully crafted Christmas cake that added a touch of seasonal magic. Residents Hazel Mackenzie, Mavis Crook, Iris Hill, and Shirley Boxall were delighted to take part in the merriment, savouring the warm atmosphere and delicious treats.
Adding to the festive cheer, children from Rupert House School performed an enchanting selection of Christmas carols, filling the hall with their beautiful voices. The residents were thrilled to join in the singing, creating a heartwarming scene of community and connection across generations.
The fun continued with rounds of bingo, which brought laughter and excitement to the day, and a raffle that gifted us some wonderful new books to add to the Acacia Library. To the delight of everyone present, Santa Claus himself made an appearance, spreading joy and handing out smiles all around.
Local newspapers The Henley Standard and The Henley Herald captured the event, chatting with our residents and taking photographs to document the festive celebration. Seeing their joy and enthusiasm shared with the community was truly heartening.
This memorable day was a testament to the joy of bringing people together to celebrate the season of giving and togetherness. A huge thank you to the town council, Mayor Kellie Hinton, Rupert House School, and all who made this day so special for our residents.
