A Day of Discovery and Inspiration at the Ashmolean Museum
This Monday, residents from Stowford House Care Home embarked on a delightful trip to the renowned Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. It was a day filled with discovery, inspiration, and plenty of laughter, leaving everyone with treasured memories and a deeper appreciation for history and art.
Exploring Timeless Treasures
The Ashmolean’s incredible collections captivated our residents as they explored artefacts from ancient civilisations. From the grandeur of Roman and Greek relics to the mysteries of Egyptian history, the exhibits sparked curiosity and wonder. The intricate beauty of Chinese porcelain particularly enchanted Lorna and Lillian, who marvelled at the craftsmanship and elegance of these timeless pieces.
An Artistic Journey
A visit to the museum’s gallery of paintings proved to be a highlight of the day. The residents were transported through centuries of artistic brilliance, from the delicate strokes of the Renaissance to the emotive colours of the Impressionists. David, an art enthusiast, was particularly thrilled, immersing himself in the artistic atmosphere and sharing his thoughts on the masterpieces with fellow residents.
Cherished Family Moments
For Mavis, the day was made even more special as she shared the experience with her granddaughter. Watching generations connect over their shared admiration for art and history was a heartwarming reminder of the joy that outings like these bring to our residents and their families.
Creating Lasting Memories
The trip was a perfect blend of learning, bonding, and enjoyment. It showcased our commitment at Oaklands House to providing enriching experiences that uplift and inspire our residents. As everyone returned with smiles and stories to share, the excitement for our next outing was already building.
A big thank you to the wonderful team at the Ashmolean Museum for their warm welcome and to our staff for organising such a memorable day. We look forward to many more adventures to come!
