Coxhill Manor Nursing and Residential Home in Chobham recently celebrated Carmina, a beloved member of the team, in honor of her remarkable 40 years of dedication. Over the years, Carmina has become an essential part of Coxhill and the celebration served as a heartfelt tribute to the difference she has made in the community.
Many of Carmina’s colleagues joined in the festivities, with some coming in on their day off to show their appreciation, with Carmina’s family members also joining.
Carmina has held a variety of roles at the home, including Night Healthcare Assistant, Housekeeping, Laundry, and, currently, Hospitality, where she primarily supports residents with their meals, serves teas and coffees, and takes care of fresh laundry. Despite being 82 years old, Carmina continues to work tirelessly five days a week, consistently going above and beyond in her role.
Residents wanted to show their appreciation for the care and attention to detail that Carmina gives to everyone she interacts with. Her patience and constant smile brighten everyone’s days and many residents see Carmina as an inspiration.
To celebrate Carmina’s Southern Italian heritage, the hospitality team hosted an Italian-themed party, with a selection of traditional Italian dishes, including pizza and meatballs. Guests also competed in a quiz on all things Italian, and enjoyed learning some Italian phrases.
Residents took the opportunity to express their gratitude by sharing their thoughts on what Carmina meant to them. Passing the microphone around, they offered heartfelt words of praise. Resident Rob remarked, “You make the best cup of tea in the country and always make sure you have the biscuits I can eat.” Margaret jokingly asked, “When do you think you might retire?” Carmina’s reply was simple: “When the good Lord takes me to heaven!”
Carmina’s 40 years of service is a testament to her unwavering commitment, compassion, and the deep bond she has built with the residents and her colleagues at Coxhill Manor. She remains a true cornerstone of the community, and her celebration was a fitting tribute to a remarkable lady who continues to inspire everyone around her.
