Steep House residents were delighted to welcome back the entertaining pupils from Bedales Pre-Prep School. Intergenerational relationships are so important as they foster mutual understanding, help to break stereotypes and build respect between age groups. The benefits to mental health should also not be understated.
The children treated residents to an entertaining musical performance, showcasing their talents on a variety of instruments, including the recorder, clarinet, piano, and violin. Their melodies brought smiles to everyone’s faces and brightened a gloomy winters day.
After the performance, the students spent time chatting with the residents, sharing stories, and presenting beautifully crafted cards. They even introduced residents to some of their favourite games, which brought back fond childhood memories for many of our residents.
To round off the afternoon, they enjoyed a fun biscuit-decorating activity together and unsurprisingly, the best part was tasting their delicious creations! We are already looking forward to welcoming the children back after the half-term break for more moments of intergenerational connection.
