Holi celebrations at Dormy House

On Friday, 14th March, the team and residents at Dormy House Care Home in Sunningdale celebrated the Hindu festival of Holi.

A two-day festival celebrated on the last full moon of the lunar month, Holi honours the Hindu god Krishna and the legend of Holika and Prahlad, symbolising the triumph of good over evil. It is also known as the festival of love and colors, and marks the arrival of spring.

An afternoon full of fun, the team and residents celebrated with entertainment from talented tap dancer Katie from Tap About Town Show, threw colourful powders on one another, and released balloons into the air to signify new beginnings and the start of spring.

Community Relations Manager Liz Hockley said, “It was a wonderful celebration, thoroughly enjoyed by all, and a lovely way to transition to the weekend. The residents particularly enjoyed covering the staff with the colourful powder. We will definitely do this again next year!”
