Last month, the residents and team at Acacia Care Centre in South Norwood enjoyed a visit from Pets As Therapy.
A regular visitor to the home, Peter volunteers through Pets As Therapy with his super-friendly 11-year-old rescue dog called Poppy.
Pets As Therapy is a national charity that understands the unique bond that is formed between people and animals and the positive impact it can have on health and wellbeing. With over 4,000 volunteers, they provide a visiting service to a number of community locations including care homes.
A wonderful session that always brings a smile to their faces, the residents enjoyed reminiscing about their own beloved pets whilst giving Poppy lots of cuddles and treats.
Wellbeing Coordinator Marta said, “There’s nothing quite like the joy that pets bring, and today was no exception! Poppy’s friendly cuddles and wagging tail lit up the room, spreading smiles and laughter all around.”
Resident Caroline said, “Poppy is so well-behaved, I loved seeing her again.”
