This week at Beechwood Park Care Home in Alloa, the popular ‘Thank You for the Music’ choir returned for their weekly visit, bringing with them a lively atmosphere that had everyone singing and dancing. A regular fixture at the home, the choir has quickly become a favourite among residents, visiting every Tuesday and offering a chance for everyone to join in on the fun.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the choir celebrated with a medley of love songs, including some Elvis Presley classics, and residents sang along and even took to the floor for a little dance. Activity coordinator, Sophie, and Isobel from the domestic team joined in with the festivities, showing off their best dance moves!
The number of residents attending these sessions continues to grow, and the atmosphere in the room has become a lively, upbeat experience. It’s proving to be a fantastic opportunity for new residents as well. One relative of a new resident commented that “it’s lovely to see the residents having fun and a wee dance!”
The choir visits provide so many benefits to residents, creating a lively, social atmosphere and building connections with the local community. Singing helps exercise cognitive abilities by encouraging residents to recall lyrics, while dancing provides excellent physical benefits—and, more importantly, it’s so much fun!
