Residents at Brook House Nursing Home in New Malden recently made some new furry companions as Browells Wood brought a variety of animals for a special pet therapy morning. From cuddly rabbits to playful piglets, the visit was a wonderful opportunity for residents to enjoy hands-on interaction with the animals.
Browells Wood Pet Therapy brings animal-assisted therapy to communities across Surrey and Hampshire, providing comfort, joy, and companionship, making a meaningful impact on those they visit. Pet therapy offers so many benefits, particularly for older adults. Spending time with animals reduces stress, and encourages social engagement, while stimulating memories of childhood pets and farm visits.
Deborah from Browells Wood introduced each animal, sharing details about their breed, age, and all of their unique personalities. Residents enjoyed petting and feeding Sausage the piglet and Louise the lamb, with Frederick and Clive taking turns bottle-feeding Louise. Maureen loved stroking the rabbits, comforted by their warmth and gentle nature, while Josephine was positively smitten with the baby chicks!
Thank you to Deborah and her furry friends for bringing so much joy to the residents of Brook House!
