The team and residents at Coppice Lea Care Home held a party to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of National Windrush Day.
Windrush Day is a chance to celebrate British Caribbean communities, and acknowledge the sacrifices and contributions the Windrush generation and their descendants have made to British society. National Windrush Day 2023 marked 75 years since the MV Empire Windrush arrived in the UK. The Windrush generation, those original pioneers who came across from the Caribbean, helped to rebuild the nation following the Second World War.
Both the team at Coppice Lea and our residents thoroughly enjoyed eating their creations and the whole home smelt delicious for the rest of the day!
We held an amazing Windrush Party to mark the anniversary, which included a buffet lunch of sandwiches, pizza, salad and fruit and a massive chocolate cake and scones for dessert.
Our team love putting on these types of events for our residents to enjoy. Interaction and engagement through events and activities are essential to the care provided at Coppice Lea, aiding socialisation within the home.
