Coppice Lea Care Home in Merstham recently welcomed a delightful visit from Karen’s Pets and Ponies, giving residents and their families the chance to meet a range of friendly critters, including a pony, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducklings, and a very cuddly lamb named Barbara – or “Baaa-bara” as she quickly became known! One of the highlights was seeing the ducklings snuggled up on residents’ laps, while others had a go at feeding Barbara with a milk bottle.
A particularly cheeky chicken had everyone laughing by hitching a ride on Dotty the pony’s back. Dotty was a gentle presence throughout the day, and in a very special moment, even stepped into the lift so she could visit residents in their rooms, making sure no one missed out on the experience.
Karen’s Pets and Ponies visit communities across Surrey and surrounding areas, including schools where they teach children about animal care, and care homes where they bring the invaluable benefits of pet therapy. Their visits offer comfort, joy, and meaningful connection – and Coppice Lea were thrilled to welcome them for a truly memorable afternoon.
