This week, Aria Care homes have been celebrating Nutrition and Hydration Week with a series of fun activities designed to promote healthy eating and proper hydration. Each day brought something new, with themes focused on delicious food, community spirit, and raising awareness about the importance of a balanced diet and staying hydrated.

Monday – Big Breakfast
To kick things off, Coxhill hosted a build-your-own breakfast station. Residents and team members dove into a spread of traditional breakfast foods, full of protein, fibre, and all the good stuff to start the week off right. From eggs to toast and plenty of juice, it was a great way to remind everyone just how important breakfast is for getting the day started on the right foot.
Training Tuesday
Tuesday was dedicated to keeping everyone safe and informed. At Scoonie House, Chef Roddie held a session on the IDDSI framework, which ensures meals are the right texture for residents, especially those with swallowing difficulties. The team learned all about how to prepare food that’s both nutritious and safe, helping prevent choking while making mealtimes enjoyable.

Wednesday – Afternoon Tea
Wednesday brought a beloved tradition to our homes – afternoon tea. Residents, families, and the local community came together to enjoy a spread of cakes, cheese, crackers, and fresh fruit. It was a lovely way to bring people together, celebrate good food, and enjoy some quality time.
Thirsty Thursday
Thursday was all about hydration. Aria Care introduced their new Aqua Burst hydration sweets, a fun and tasty way to help residents stay hydrated. These treats are a great solution, as the sensation of thirst can decrease with age, and staying hydrated can sometimes be forgotten. Oak Manor was one of many homes to introduce the sweets to residents, and they went down a treat!

Fruity Friday
Friday was a colourful celebration of fruit! Fresh, dried, and pureed fruits were offered to residents, boosting vitamin intake and hydration. Homes across Aria Care got involved, with everyone enjoying some fruity sorbets and ice lollies. It was a refreshing way to enjoy the many health benefits of fruit.
So far, Nutrition and Hydration Week has been a big success, with homes across Aria Care getting involved and having a great time while learning about the importance of good nutrition and hydration. And there’s still more to come – with Smoothie Saturday and Sundae Sunday to wrap up the week, we can’t wait to see how our residents and team members celebrate!
