The residents and team at Denham Manor Care Home in Denham welcomed the local community into their home for a Cheese and Wine evening ‘Cheese and Cheers’. The event was a chance for the community to meet the residents and team, have a tour of the home and see daily life, whilst enjoying conversation over a range of cheese and wine to taste that were served by the hospitality team at the home.
Bliss, Wellbeing Coordinator took the opportunity to demonstrate and showcase the new happiness programme which has recently launched at the home. This programme is in collaboration with Social-Ability, The Alzheimer’s Society and Sport England. It is an interactive activity service featuring sensory light technology. Designed specifically to support residents with learning disabilities and dementia, this innovative programme has already had a huge impact on the lives of our residents in some of our other homes.
The technology, created by Social Ability, uses a 360-degree projector to create a variety of fun, engaging, and interactive games and activities such as popping balloons, fishing, and sweeping up leaves—each designed to stimulate both mind and body in a safe, enjoyable way.
Everyone enjoyed seeing the new technology and the benefits for the residents. Denham Manor would like to thank everyone who came along it was a wonderful evening with Sue commenting “It was a fun evening thank you all for the delicious cheese and wine, so beautifully presented we can’t wait for the next one’.
