Firtree residents celebrate Chinese New Year

Last week, the residents and team at Firtree House Care Home in Tunbridge Wells celebrated Chinese New Year.

Organised by Home Manager Jackie Cullip, Administrator Tom, and Klara and Jess from the wellbeing team, the residents, relatives and team all came together to enjoy delicious food and fun activities.

The day began with a documentary and a chance to discover their Chinese zodiac sign in the main lounge, followed by a Chinese feast in the conservatory. Following tradition, the residents were encouraged to wear red clothing for luck, prosperity, and vitality.

The celebrations continued in the conservatory, which was beautifully decorated with lanterns, bunting, and a red and gold-themed table setting to enhance the dining experience. After enjoying their meal, the residents were given a red envelope containing a lucky Chinese coin.

Klara said, “A huge thanks to Jackie for providing the traditional dim sum dumplings, boa buns, soy chicken and sticky rice.”

Resident Maggie said, “This has been the most wonderful day, thank you for all your hard work.”
