Forth Bay Care Home in Fife has introduced a heartwarming new event that’s already proving to be a huge hit. ‘Wee ones and wise ones’ brings together two generations for a fun-filled session of songs, stories, and cuddles!
Organised by bank senior care assistant, Katie, the idea came from a simple and lovely thought – bringing little ones and residents together for special moments. Katie set up a Facebook group to invite local parents to join in and was overwhelmed by the response; before long, the session was fully booked with families from the local village bringing along their babies.
Wellbeing coordinators, Di and Alex, led the session, creating a warm and welcoming space for babies as young as 8 weeks to just over a year old. The curious little ones were in their element, exploring a new place, meeting new friendly faces, and giggling away as residents entertained them with smiles and games. Residents were overjoyed to spend time with the little bundles of joy, enjoying a cuddle and reminiscing about the days when they were young parents themselves.
A huge thank you goes to the local community for embracing this wonderful idea and to the ‘wee ones’ for putting smiles on many faces. With such a fantastic start, ‘Wee Ones and Wise Ones’ is set to become a firm favourite, and everyone is looking forward to next month’s session.
