Last week, the team and residents at Heffle Court Care Home in Heathfield celebrated Bangladesh Independence Day.
Each year, on March 26th, the country’s independence from Pakistan in 1971 is commemorated. The celebration, led by carer Ash and the activities team, highlighted Bangladeshi culture. The residents enjoyed learning about traditional clothing, dancing, different spices, and discovering fascinating facts about the country.
Ash also cooked a delicious feast in the kitchen, and the residents had the chance to try his homemade biriyani, made with the spices he brought. As part of a sensory activity, the residents had the opportunity to explore and smell a variety of spices, seeing how many they could identify.
Wellbeing Coordinator Mary said, “I loved seeing the smiles on the residents’ faces when they saw the beautiful clothes and the laughs we shared when trying to keep up with the dancing!”
