The team at Hillview Court Nursing Home in Sauchie are thrilled to announce the launch of The Happiness Programme, a first-of-its-kind interactive activity service featuring sensory light technology. Designed specifically to support residents with learning disabilities and dementia, this innovative programme has already had a huge impact on the lives of those at Hillview Court.
The technology, created by Social Ability, uses a 360-degree projector to create a variety of fun, engaging, and interactive games. Residents were excited to try out activities such as popping balloons, fishing, and sweeping up leaves—each designed to stimulate both mind and body in a safe, enjoyable way.
Colleagues at Hillview Court received special training from the Social Ability team to help support residents with the projector, ensuring they could fully enjoy the experience. The programme has proven especially beneficial for residents who prefer smaller group settings or 1-to-1 activities, providing them with meaningful engagement and the opportunity to connect in a new way.
“We are so happy to have our new projector and be part of The Happiness Programme,” said Home Manager Laura Davidson. “Our goal is always to deliver better care outcomes for our residents, and this helps us monitor engagement and offer personalised activities for them.”
The success of the programme has been clear, with both residents and team members expressing how much fun they’ve had and how much it’s helped with cognitive and emotional wellbeing. It’s safe to say, The Happiness Programme is already making a big difference at Hillview Court, and everyone is looking forward to more exciting sessions to come!
