The residents and team at Holmwood Care Centre in Kidderminster celebrated Valentine’s day in style with a themed Hearts and Flowers coffee morning for all to enjoy including the local community. With delightful cakes and refreshments thanks to the hospitality team at the home who prepared them in keeping with the theme.
It was a chance for everyone to come together share stories and catch up over a cup of tea. Keith who has been a resident at the home since September 2023 welcomed his wife to the event so they could mark the special day together, Margaret tries to visit daily and has recently moved next door to the home in the affliliated independent living apartments so that she can be closer to him. Having been married for 71 years when asked what was their secret to a long and happy marriage they said “having 2 lovely sons with nice wives, 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and enjoying good health has helped with their happy marriage.”
The event was a great success with home manager Rachel commenting “It was heartwarming to see the residents enjoy time with friends, family, and the team, with a healthy helping of cake, tea, and coffee on the side. Events like these remind us how important it is to create space for love, friendship and community.”
