A Hopping Good Time: Easter Fun with Local School children
Springtime joy was in full bloom at Ivy Court Care Home this week as residents enjoyed a delightful visit from the children of Henderson school. With Easter just around the corner, the air buzzed with excitement, laughter, and the sweet scent of chocolate as generations came together for a morning of festive fun.
The highlight of the day was the Easter bonnet decorating activity. Armed with colourful decorations brought along by the school, the children and residents worked side by side to create beautifully adorned bonnets. Feathers, ribbons, and glitter soon transformed simple hats into marvellous works of art, each one unique and bursting with personality.
But the fun didn’t stop there! The children then eagerly dashed into the garden for a thrilling Easter egg hunt. Residents watched on with smiles as the youngsters searched high and low for the chocolate treats that had been carefully hidden earlier that morning. The excitement was contagious, and the garden was soon filled with cheers as the children proudly displayed their finds.
Adding to the heartwarming atmosphere, the children treated the residents to a charming performance of nursery rhymes. Their sweet voices filled the room, bringing back fond memories and prompting many to hum along. Marion, one of our residents, was particularly impressed, commenting, “The children were very clever.”
No celebration would be complete without a little refreshment. Everyone enjoyed a selection of biscuits, accompanied by squash or water, as they chatted and admired their festive creations. Rosemary, another of our residents, shared her joy at the visit, saying, “I had a great morning and was very happy to see the children visiting.”
This special event was made possible through a wonderful collaboration between our care home and the local school. While we supplied the chocolate eggs for the hunt, the teacher kindly brought along the bonnets and decorations, ensuring a truly memorable experience for all involved.
Bringing young and old together in celebration is always a joy, and this Easter gathering was no exception. The smiles, laughter, and shared creativity made for a truly magical morning – one that residents and children alike will cherish for a long time to come.
