Colin, a beloved resident at Miranda House Care Home in Royal Wootton Bassett, has long had a fascination with airplanes – despite never having flown in one. Often spotted gazing at the skies from the garden, he’s always dreamed of what it might be like to soar above the clouds.
Last week, that dream became a reality. Thanks to a heartwarming collaboration between Miranda House and Velocity Flight Training Ltd., Colin experienced the thrill of aviation for the very first time through a state-of-the-art flight simulator.
Taking on the role of “Captain Colin B,” he embarked on an unforgettable virtual journey, flying into and out of Hawaii while taking in views of the Pearl Harbor memorial, navigating the bustling skyline of Hong Kong, and gliding over the majestic Alps.
With a beaming smile and eyes wide with wonder, Colin was completely immersed in the moment.
Mandi Short, Home Manager at Miranda House, shared: “We’ve never seen Colin so emotional; he didn’t know whether to cry or laugh! It was an incredibly special moment for him and for all of us who know how much this meant. A heartfelt thank you to Velocity Flight Training for making this dream come true.”
