Oaklands House Care Centre welcomed in the Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year celebrations arrived at Oaklands House Care Centre in a riot of colour and delicious Chinese cuisine. The festivities for the arrival of the Year of the Snake also included a variety of fun activities heartily enjoyed by residents and staff.

First off, was an engaging craft activity, where residents tested their creative skills. Notably, residents John and Betty enthusiastically took up the challenge, choosing to craft an image of a snake in the shape of the letter. They cut and glued a variety of coloured paper to make the S shape, which was presented on black card. Irene impressed with her original creation of a Chinese lantern. Another successful afternoon or art and togetherness, a perfect distraction from the gloomy January weather. Check out their creation below!

The celebrations continued as residents indulged in a culinary feast, lovingly prepared by the forever inventive kitchen team. The Chinese delights on offer included sweet and sour chicken, beef in black bean sauce, egg fried rice and a tasty cheesecake to finish.

To conclude another successful and fun day, our residents took part in a game of Chinese jeopardy accompanied by fortune cookies.

Another fun-filled day was enjoyed by all.
