Scoonie House care home in Leven were visited by local nursery, Kennoway Nursery, this Pancake Day, bringing two generations together for a day of fun and creativity. The nursery has visited before and the Scoonie House team have been aiming to build this relationship as part of their intergenerational project.
The residents and kids put their aprons on and enjoyed being inventive with a variety of different toppings. Their creations looked fantastic and went down a treat! Then to carry on with the creativity, they spent some time colouring in together. Team member, Sharon, made sure everyone had all the materials they needed for their artistic flair and had a great laugh with the residents and kids.
Residents had a wonderful time interacting with the children, with resident, Aileen, sharing that she had a great day and that it reminded her of her younger days. The children were an absolute joy and had lots of fun playing games and chatting with residents.
Intergenerational activities like this are so beneficial for both residents and children. For residents, it’s great for their mood and overall wellbeing and really brings out the kid in them. For children, these activities are a valuable opportunity to learn about another generation and build their social skills.
