Southborough Nursing Home Residents Visit Squires Garden Centre

The residents and staff of Southborough Nursing Home recently had their well laid plans interrupted by the vagaries of the weather. But all was not lost, as the ever-resourceful Activities Team quickly rearranged their planned day out exploring Kingston market, by choosing to visit the much-loved Squires Garden Centre instead.

Thankfully the change in plans caused by the inclemental weather, failed to dampen their spirits. Residents enjoyed exploring the shop and perusing the rows of plants, making wish-lists as they progressed. Ruth favoured a beautiful mirror and a delightful swing, and jokingly remarked how she hoped she would receive them as birthday gifts. Fingers crossed!

A particularly heartwarming moment was when Leslie chose a beautiful petunia, continuing a tradition she shared with her husband, whenever they visited garden centres. Maureen had great time with her carer and even received a welcome visit from a friendly dog.

The day concluded with a visit to the café, where they enjoyed tasty cakes, warm drinks and the conversation flowed. Despite the poor weather, a fun day was enjoyed by all and hopefully they are able to visit Kingston Market once the weather improves.
